Job Title: Audio/Visual Technician

Tier: 2

Location: Talley Student Union, Witherspoon Student Center, and Hunt Library

Supervision: Reports to Technical Coordinator and Building Managers

Work Schedule: Shift work based on event schedule; 8-20 hours per week between 7am and 1am; includes some nights and weekends

Compensation: Minimum starting wage is $9.25/hour with opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises

Purpose: NC State Students Centers and Rave! Events work together to create a memorable experience for all students, guests and alumni here at NC State. We strive to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for the NC State community. In support of the university’s educational mission, we serve as a cornerstone for student growth, learning and involvement through the highest quality service and facilities.

Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a superior level of customer service and audio/visual services
  • Properly set up and store A/V equipment in accordance with the setup sheet and supervisor expectations
  • Communicate effectively with NC State Student Centers and Rave! Events staff to ensure event success
  • Maintain event-ready, organized, and safe event spaces and work areas
  • Maintain inventory and records of A/V equipment
  • Troubleshoot A/V equipment as needed
  • Work special events and perform other duties as assigned by Campus Enterprises administration
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers and Rave! Events student employee policies and expectations at all times
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by building manager or Campus Enterprises administration

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current NC State Student Centers and Rave! Events employee
  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Knowledge of basic A/V functions such as computers, microphones, sound systems, projectors, lights, touch panels, and light boards
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work with a team to serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude toward independent work, responsibility, problem solving, and respect
  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings student employee orientation and training sessions
