Job Title: Information Assistant

Tier: 1, 2

Location: Talley Student Union Information Desk

Supervision: Reports to Kristen Bradley, Administrative Specialist

Work Schedule: Shift-based; 8-20 hours per week between 7am and 1am; includes nights and weekends

Compensation: Minimum starting wage is $11/hr. Upon successful completion of training and a skills assessment, the wage will increase to $12 with additional opportunity for raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. In addition, Student Centers employees are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus up to $200.

Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively greet and engage with students and guests.
  • Communicate with campus departments and outside organizations to gather necessary information for guests
  • Assist guests by sharing information about events, campus resources, maps, and departmental or organizational contacts
  • Respond to phone calls and email inquiries, ensuring clear and helpful communication
  • Manage check-ins for indoor and outdoor lobby table reservations and provide equipment if necessary 
  • Oversee charger checkout for students and guests, ensuring proper tracking and timely returns
  • Collect and record lost and found items and assist in returning them to their owners when possible
  • Work independently while identifying and solving problems effectively
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and a clean work environment at all times
  • Promote NC State Student Centers student employment program 
  • Work on special projects assigned by Campus Enterprises and NC State Student Centers administration
  • Remain in compliance with NC State Student Centers student employee policies and expectations at all times

As student employees with Campus Enterprises, we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Arriving early for shifts
  • Having on a complete uniform
  • Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
  • Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
  • Prioritize the client
  • Finish all duties before taking a break

Essential Qualifications

  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, and roll up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work with and manage a team to serve a diverse population
  • Elevated oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to support other functions of NC State Student Centers 
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, student employee orientation, and training sessions
