Lead Cook - Fall 2025
Campus Enterprises Mission: Campus Enterprises is NC State University’s division of retail and hospitality organizations — NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.
Purpose: Provide vital support to Campus Enterprises and NC State Dining by providing an excellent dining experience for all guests.
Compensation: Students will start at tier 3 at $12.00 per hour. Once they have demonstrated sufficient skills they will be eligible to be promoted to a tier 4 position at $13 per hour.
In addition, students who are eligible will receive longevity raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. Dining and Catering employees earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus of up to $200.
Locations: Fountain, Case, Clark, or University Towers Dining Halls, and Talley Main Kitchen. Applicants will have an opportunity to express their preference for location on the application.
Work Schedule: Flexible shifts that work around your class schedule.

Essential functions and responsibilities: (including but not limited to):
- Assist in the large-scale production of food items.
- Prepare and cut fruits and vegetables for catering displays.
- Slice meats and cheeses for box lunches and other functions within the Garde Manger area.
- Assist the Chef on Duty with executing functions and sending out events.
- Aid in the plating of large-scale plated dinners and events as needed.
- Maintain Health standards
Essential Qualifications:
- Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, peers and customers
- Ability to work with a team to serve a diverse population
- Manual dexterity
- Maintain a positive attitude of learning and personal growth
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks
- Physically able to carry up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior culinary experience
- Willing to make a multi-semester commitment to NC State Dining and interest in advancing to higher tier culinary positions based on training and performance
